Abstract

Cilj ovoga rada bio je istražiti kako destilirana voda, kisela kiša i morska voda utječu na korozijsku postojanost Corten čelika. U tu svrhu provedene su vizualna i gravimetrijska analiza te elektrokemijska impedancijska spektroskopija.
Zbog formiranja oksidnog sloja na površini, izmjeren je prirast mase i debljine kod svih uzoraka u razdoblju od 6 mjeseci. Kod uzoraka tretiranih destiliranom vodom izmjeren je najmanji prirast mase i debljine, a nešto veći prirast izmjeren je kod uzoraka koji su tretirani kiselom kišom. Najveći prirast mase i debljine izmjeren je kod uzorka tretiranog morskom vodom, ali oksidni sloj na ovom uzorku nije čvrsto prianjao uz površinu. Najmanja oštećenja uslijed korozije uočena su na uzorcima tretiranim destiliranom vodom, a uzorci tretirani morskom vodom najjače su oštećeni korozijom. Elektrokemijskom impedancijskom spektroskopijom utvrđeno je kako razdoblje od 6 mjeseci nije dovoljno za potpuno formiranje stabilnog oksidnog sloja u destiliranoj vodi i kiseloj kiši. Morska voda pokazala se kao vrlo agresivan medij, oksidni slojevi odvojili su se od površine, a površina se nije pasivizirala nego je i dalje korodirala.

Abstract (english)

The goal of this research was to find out how distilled water, acid rain and seawater affect the corrosion resistance of Corten steel. For research purposes, visual and gravimetric analyses were made alongside electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Because of the formation of an oxide layer on the surface, mass and width increasements were measured on all samples in a 6-month time span. On samples which were treated with distilled water, the mass and width increasements were the lowest, while slight increasements were measured on samples which were treated with acid rain. The major mass and width increasements were measured on the sample which was treated with seawater, but the oxide layer on this sample was not firmly attached to the surface. The least amount of corrosive damage was reported on the samples which were treated with distilled water, yet the samples treated with seawater suffered the most corrosion-inflicted damage. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that a 6-month time span was not enough for a complete formation of a stable oxide layer in distilled water and acid rain. Seawater turned out to be a very aggressive environment, oxide layers got separated from the surface, and the surface itself did not passivize, thus it continued to corrode.
