Abstract

Pri konstruiranju stentova iznimno je važno točno predvidjeti kako će krvožilni sustav utjecati na njihovu strukturu, ali i kako će oni utjecati na okolinu u koju se ugrađuju. Geometrijske karakteristike krvožilnog sustava se mogu odrediti raznim metodama snimanja u dijagnostičkoj radiologiji, ali mehanička svojstva arterija su vrlo složena i ne mogu se odrediti in vivo. Kako se materijalne karakteristike stijenka arterija razlikuju od osobe do osobe, u ovom radu se numerički, metodom konačnih elemenata, razmatra njihov utjecaj na naprezanja stenta, aterosklerotskog plaka i stijenke arterije pri ugradnji samoekspandirajućeg stenta u karotidnu arteriju.
U prvom, uvodnom, dijelu prikazani su dijelovi kardiovaskularnog sustava relevantni za ovu temu te je opisan način rada stentova i od kojih se materijala izrađuju.
Drugi dio služi kao priprema za numeričku analizu; definira se geometrija karotidne arterije i stentova koji će se kasnije koristiti.
U trećem je dijelu opisano kako Neo-Hooke i Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden hiperelastični modeli opisuju nelinearno elastično ponašanje koje je zapaženo kod opterećivanja bioloških mekih tkiva. Također se zadaju materijalni parametri stenta, plaka i inverznom metodom se određuju pet setova materijalnih parametara stijenke arterije koji će se analizirati.
Četvrti, zadnji dio, prikazuje rezultate numeričkih simulacija i njihovu usporedbu.

Abstract (english)

During the stent design process, it is extremely important to correctly predict the impact that the cardiovascular system will have on the stent’s structure and how that same stent will impact its surroundings. The geometry of the cardiovascular system can be defined using various imaging methods used in diagnostic radiology, but the mechanical properties of arteries are very complex and cannot be defined in vivo. In this thesis, a numerical, finite element method is used to compare the influence different mechanical properties of a carotid arterial wall have on stent, plaque and arterial wall strain during the placing of a self-expanding stent in a carotid artery.
The first chapter defines parts of the cardiovascular system that are relevant for this thesis, along with the usage of stents and materials they are made of.
The geometry of the carotid artery and stents that will be used in the numerical analysis is defined in the second chapter.
The third chapter gives a theoretical background of Neo-Hooke and Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden hyperelastic models which define non-linear elastic properties of biological soft tissues. This chapter also contains the list of material properties which will be used for the stents and the plaque. Additionally, using the inverse method, five sets of material parameters for the arterial wall are defined.
The last chapter contains results and the comparison of numerical analyses.
