Abstract

Titan i njegove legure, nehrđajući austenitni čelici i kobalt – krom legure predstavljaju materijale čija je primjena prepoznatljiva u širokom biomedicinskom području. Temelj primjene navedenih materijala je u posjedovanju svojstva biokompatibilnosti kao i ostalih zahtjeva koje treba ispuniti kako bi se mogli primjenjivati u tako specifičnim uvjetima. Fokus ovog rada stavljen je na primjenu spomenutih biomaterijala za endoprotetske implantate zgloba kuka. Prilikom primjene implantata u manjem broju slučajeva ipak dolazi do određenih problema. Problemi koji se pojavljuju usko su povezni za korozijske i tribološke mehanizme djelovanja na implantat zgloba kuka. Korozijski mehanizmi su prisutni upravo zbog medija odnosno tjelesne tekućine u kojoj se nalazi implantat zgloba kuka. S druge strane, tribološki mehanizmi javljaju se zbog djelovanja dinamičkog opterećenja. Često tribološki mehanizmi djelovanja nastupaju zajedno s korozijskim. Navedenu problematiku djelovanja tribokorozijskih mehanizama moguće je eliminirati ili umanjiti određenim postupcima površinske modifikacije biomaterijala.

Abstract (english)

Titanium and its alloys, austenitic stainless steels as well as cobalt – chromium alloys are materials whose application is recognizable in a wide biomedical area. The basis for the application of these materials is in possession of the bio-compatibility property as well as other requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to be applicable under such specific conditions. The focus of this thesis is on the use of mentioned biomaterials for endoprothetic hip joint implants. There are some problems with the use of the implants in a small number of cases. Problems that occur are closely related to corrosion and tribological mechanisms of action on the hip joint implant. Corrosion mechanisms are present precisely because of the medium or bodily fluid in which the hip joint implant is located. On the other hand, tribological mechanisms occur due to dynamic load action. Often the tribological wear mechanisms occur together with corrosion. The mentioned problem of tribocorrosion mechanisms can be eliminated or reduced by certain procedures of surface modification of the biomaterial.
