Abstract

Jedan od najvećih izazova u industriji podatkovnih centara je osiguravanje strogo propisanih mikroklimatskih zahtjeva te je stoga razvoj i optimizacija klimatizacijskih jedinica za hlađenje podatkovnih centara od ključne važnosti. Za te se svrhe u posljednje vrijeme sve češće primjenjuje računalna dinamika fluida koja omogućuje bržu i učinkovitiju analizu u odnosu na eksperimentalna mjerenja, a koja su često dugotrajan i skup proces. U ovom je radu izrađen numerički model i provedena je računalna simulacija rada klimatizacijske jedinice za hlađenje podatkovnog centra koristeći računalni program ANSYS Fluent. Klimatizacijska jedinica analizirana u radu sastoji se od mješališta te adijabatskog hladnjaka za ovlaživanje i hlađenje zraka. Posebni fokus rada bio je na stvaranju i implementaciji korisničko definiranih funkcija (eng. User Defined Functions) koje u zadanoj zoni opisuju rad adijabatskog hladnjaka. Uz pretpostavku izentalpske promjene stanja tijekom direktnog ovlaživanja struje zraka te jednakog ovlaživanja u svakoj točki hladnjaka napravljen je skup korisnički definiranih funkcija te algoritam za njihovu implementaciju u ANSYS Fluent. Procjena točnosti rezultata hlađenja provedena je usporedbom s rezultatima softvera GENESYS Munters proizvođača direktnog adijabatskog hladnjaka. Numeričke simulacije pokazale su vrlo dobre rezultate, pri čemu je odstupanje u odnosu na podatke proizvođača iznosilo 4.32% za uprosječene temperature na izlazu iz hladnjaka, te 1.59% za uprosječeni sadržaj vlage. S ciljem još točnijeg modeliranja predlaže se proširenje funkcijske ovisnosti temperature struje zraka prema stupnju zasićenja te stvaranje gušće numeričke mreže.

Abstract (english)

One of the biggest challenges in the data center industry is ensuring strict microclimate requirements, making the development and optimization of air handling units for data centers crucial. Recently, computational fluid dynamics has been increasingly used for these purposes, allowing for faster and more efficient analysis compared to experimental measurements, which are often time-consuming and expensive. In this study, a numerical model was developed and a computer simulation of the operation of a data center air handling unit was performed using the ANSYS Fluent computer program. The air handling unit analyzed in the study consists of air mixing plenum and an adiabatic cooler for humidifying and cooling the air. The special focus of the study was on creating and implementing user defined functions that describe the operation of the adiabatic cooler in the specified zone. Assuming isenthalpic state changes during direct air stream humidification and equal humidification at each point of the cooler, a set of user-defined functions and an algorithm for their implementation in ANSYS Fluent were created. The accuracy of the cooling results was evaluated by comparing them with the results of the GENESYS Munters software for direct adiabatic coolers. The numerical simulations showed very good results, with deviations from the manufacturer's data of 4.32% for the averaged outlet air temperature and 1.59% for the averaged moisture content. To further improve the modeling accuracy, it is proposed to extend the functional dependence of the air stream temperature on the degree of saturation and create a denser numerical mesh.
