| Abstract | Kompozitni materijali su u posljednje vrijeme postali sve prisutniji u inženjerskoj primjeni što zbog svojih odličnih mehaničkih svojstava, male mase te jednostavnosti izrade. U današnje vrijeme kada se teži što učinkovitijoj izradi proizvoda i konstrukcija uz što veće iskorištenje materijala, kompoziti se nameću kao sve poželjniji za primjenu u modernim konstrukcijama. Njihova mehanička svojstva ovise o materijalnim fazama koje se javljaju u mikrostrukturi, matrici i vlaknima. Odabir orijentacije vlakana, mehaničkih svojstava i udjela materijalnih faza omogućuje dobivanje optimalnih mehaničkih svojstava materijala na makrorazini. Dok vlakna povećavaju čvrstoću i nosivosti kompozita, matrica ima zadatak osigurati kompaktnost kompozita. Na mikrorazini nijedan materijal nije homogen, već se sastoji od različitih faza od kojih svaka ima različita mehanička svojstva, pa tako i kompozit. Kompozit stoga više nije izotropan, već je ortotropan ili anizotropan materijal. U sklopu ovog završnog rada promatra se kompozit s epoksidnom matricom i usmjerenim ugljičnim vlaknima. Također, razmatraju se udjeli vlakana od 30, 35, 40 i 45 %.
Zahvaljujući razvoju naprednih numeričkih metoda, prije svega metode konačnih elemenata (MKE) koja predstavlja najviše korištenu numeričku metodu, moguće je odrediti utjecaj svake pojedine mikrostrukturne faze, njezinog volumenskog udjela i usmjerenosti na mehanička svojstva kompozita na makrorazini. Za kvalitetno opisivanje fizikalnog ponašanja nekog materijala, nužno je opisati i poznavati svojstva njegove mikrostrukture. Stoga se ovaj rad bavi mikromehaničkim modeliranjem kompozita ojačanog vlaknima primjenom metode homogenizacije.
U prvom poglavlju opisani su heterogeni materijali, kompoziti te materijali koji su sastavni dio kompozita kojima se bavi ovaj rad, a to su polimerna matrica i ugljična vlakna. Zatim je dan opis metode konačnih elemenata i način određivanja mehaničkih svojstava metodom homogenizacije. Potom su provedene numeričke analize u programskom paketu Abaqus te su analizirani dobiveni numerički rezultati. I na kraju, prema sukladno dobivenim rezultatima doneseni su zaključci. |
| Abstract (english) | Recently, composite materials have become increasingly popular in engineering applications due to their excellent mechanical properties, low mass and ease of manufacture. Nowadays, when the aim is to make products and structures as efficiently as possible with the greatest possible exploitation of materials, composites are becoming even more desirable for use in modern structures. Their mechanical properties depend on the material phases that occur in the microstructure, matrix and fibers. The selection of fiber orientation, mechanical properties and the proportion of material phases allows obtaining optimal mechanical properties of the material at the macro level. While the fibers increase the strength and load-bearing capacity of the composite, the matrix has the task of ensuring the compactness of the composite. At the micro level no material is homogeneous, but consists of different phases, each of which has different mechanical properties, including the composite. The composite is therefore no longer isotropic, but an orthotropic or anisotropic material. As part of this Bachelor thesis, a composite with an epoxy matrix and oriented carbon fibers has been observed. Furthermore, fiber proportions of 30, 35, 40 and 45 % have been considered.
Thanks to the development of advanced numerical methods, mostly finite element method (FEM), which represents the most used numerical method, it is possible to determine the influence of each individual microstructural phase, its volume fraction and orientation on the mechanical properties of the composite at the macro level. In order to qualitatively describe the physical behavior of a material, it is necessary to describe and know properties its microstructure. Thus, this paper will deal with the micromechanical modeling of fiber-reinforced composites using the homogenization method.
In the first chapter, heterogeneous materials, composites and materials that are an integral part of the composite that is utilized in this work are described, namely the polymer matrix and carbon fibers. Then a description of the finite element method and the method of determining the mechanical properties using the homogenization method is given. Numerical analyzes were then carried out in the Abaqus software package and the obtained numerical results were analyzed. And finally, according to the results, a conclusion is given. |
