Abstract

U ovom radu bilo je potrebno izvršiti numeričko modeliranje kompozitnih sendvič konstrukcija te analizu udarnih oštećenja pri malim brzinama. Korištene su tri različite izvedbe jezgri. Prva je postojeća geometrija saća, druga je trapezna valovita jezgra, a treća jest trokutasta valovita jezgra. Materijal jezgre jest NOMEX, a vanjski slojevi izrađeni su od kompozita ojačanih ugljičnim vlaknima. Podaci o materijalima dobiveni su pretragom dostupne literature o navedenom području. Navedena je uloga sendvič kompozita u industriji. Potom je opisana konstrukcija sendvič kompozita, kao i različite izvedbe. Prikazani su modeli oštećenja vanjskih slojeva te jezgre, kao i svojstva materijala. Numeričko modeliranje udarnog oštećenja sastojalo se od variranja različitih brzina udara te visina jezgre za svaku pojedinu izvedbu. Validacija je izvedena usporedbom rezultata s eksperimentalnim rezultatima iz prethodno dostupnih radova. Zatim su prikazani rezultati apsorbiranih energija pomoću preostale kinetičke energije, energije koju je apsorbirala jezgra te energije koju su na sebe preuzeli vanjski slojevi. Spomenuti rezultati prikazani su u ovisnosti o vremenu udara. Nadalje, prikazani su i rezultati sila koje se prenose na ostatak konstrukcije u ovisnosti o vremenu udara. Rezultati su prikazani za sve analizirane kombinacije brzine udara, visine jezgre te izvedbe same jezgre. Na kraju je napravljena usporedba različitih izvedbi jezgre s obzirom na mogućnost apsorpcije energije te prenošenja sila na ostatak konstrukcije.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis it was necessary to deal with the numerical modelling of composite sandwich structures with induced low-velocity impact damage. Three different structures were analysed: the realistic honeycomb core, the corrugated trapezoidal structure and the triangular structure. The material of the core is NOMEX and the outer layers are made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer. The material data were collected by studying the relevant literature. In this thesis first the importance of sandwich composite panels is explained. Then the damage mechanisms of the outer layers and the core were presented. The numerical modeling of impact damages includes the analysis for many different impact energies as well as for several core dimensions. The validation of the numerical models was performed using available experimental data. The results were then presented using the remaining kinetic energy, the energy dissipated from the core and the energy dissipated from the outer layers. Then the forces on the rest of the structure were shown as a function of time. The results were shown for all impact velocities, dimensions of the core and the different concepts of the shape of the core. Finally, a comparison was made between different cores on their ability to absorb energy and to transfer forces to the rest of the structure.
