Abstract

Današnji otoci predstavljaju izvrsne lokacije kad su u pitanju inovacije u energetici i korištenje novih tehnologija. Posebnost je u njihovoj izoliranosti od kopna, velikom potencijalu za implementaciju obnovljivih izvora energije (OIE), te potencijalnoj neraspoloživosti osnovnih resursa. Otok Unije je ogledni primjer kao dio INSULAE projekta u okviru kojeg će se implementirati OIE s vodovodnim sustavom, te koristiti nove tehnologije kao što su 5G i IoT (engl. Internet of Things) za praćenje i monitoring podataka.
U radu je cilj prikazati analizu spone vodovodnog i elektroenergetskog sustava. Potrebno je istražiti i educirati se o osnovnim elementima tih sustava, uključujući tehnologiju desalinizacije i metode uštede vode. Istraženi su osnovni podatci o otoku Unije te trenutnom i planiranom stanju na otoku, koje obuhvaća sustav baterije i fotonaponske elektrane, te vodovodni sustav s desalinizatorom. Modeliranje ulaznih podataka u sustav preuzeto je iz stvarnih podataka na lokaciji, gdje je to bilo moguće, a djelomično je bilo potrebno uvoditi određene pretpostavke. Za analizu su korištena dva softvera otvorenog koda, EPANET za simulaciju vodovodnog sustava i Calliope za povezivanje i optimizaciju vodovodnog i elektroenergetskog sustava (EES) koristeći linearnu optimizaciju. Softveri su pokazali dobre rezultate i ostavljaju dodatni prostor za daljnji rad i modifikaciju programiranjem. Obrađen je osnovni scenarij koji je opisan, dok ostali scenariji predstavljaju nadogradnju popunjavajući njegove nedostatke.

Abstract (english)

Smart Islands are a good example concerning innovations in Energy Engineering and implementation of modern technologies, due to their isolation from the mainland, huge potential of implementation of Renewable Energy Sources, as well as unavailability of basic resources. The island of Unije is a Lighthouse island as a part of a project INSULAE implementing Renewable Energy Sources with water supply system, as well as using modern technologies such as 5G and IoT for data monitoring.
The aim of this thesis is the analysis of optimal connection between water supply and power system. Exploration and education about basic elements of these systems was needed, including technology of desalination and water saving methods. Basic information about the island and its current and planned state was explored. It consists of system of battery and PV power plant, as well as a water system including desalination plant. Real on-site data was used for modelling of input data, wherever it was possible. On the other hand, certain assumptions were needed for modelling where data could not be provided. Two open source softwares were used for this analysis – EPANET for simulation of water supply system, and Calliope for linking and optimization of water supply and power systems using linear optimization. They showed good results leaving space for future work and modification by programming. Basic scenario was analysed, while other scenarios represent its upgrade filling its disadvantages.
