S razvojem željezničkog prometa, raste potreba za povećanjem sigurnosti i udobnosti tijekom vožnje. Posljedično, primjena znanja tribologije postaju ključna u svim fazama razvoja i održavanja vozila – od konstrukcije i dizajna, preko odabira materijala i metode toplinske obrade, do održavanja sustava. Analizirani su najčešći mehanizmi i procesi trošenja te su priloženi primjeri istih s analiziranog uzorka. U eksperimentalnom dijelu rada provedeno je mjerenje profila i dimenzija gazne površine kotača koja je uspoređena s dimenzijama profila novog kotača, analizirana je mikrostruktura materijala kotača te izmjerena i analizirana tvrdoća materijala na različitim udaljenostima od gazne površine prema središtu kotača. With the advancement of railway transportation, there is an increasing demand for improved safety and passenger comfort. Predominant wear mechanisms and processes were investigated, supported by examples from the analyzed sample. The experimental section includes measurements of wheel tread profile dimensions, which were compared to those of a new wheel profile.
